ABOUT LOUISA

Why did you start New Leaf Organizing?

At the peak of my career as a celebrity and commercial wardrobe stylist, I became caretaker to a close relative who had fallen ill. At that time, I traveled a minimum of one week a month for business and family, and this went on for several years.

As you can imagine, the mail piles sprouted. I desperately needed to update my organizing systems in order that I be able to maintain peace and clarity and maintain my marriage.

I hired an organizer. And my life transformed!

Fast forward 5 years, I decided to make a career change. I remembered how invaluable my experience was with the organizer I hired.

I thought about what a privilege it would be to participate and witness personal and professional transformations of others who are disorganized and/or overwhelmed.

Then serendipity stepped-in to affirm my decision when in 2010 I received a phone call from a Realtor. She asked if I would organize and prepare a home for resale.

The house had 40 years of memorabilia, paper files, tools, books, and belongings. With a crew, I got it done! And the home sold for over its listing price, during the recession. Welcome to Professional Organizing!

The transition to professional organizer took a few years. It was a slam dunk! Helping to change my clients lives one organizing session at a time is my new passion.

Are you ready to let go of excess stuff? What holds you back?

Can you imagine how to have less clutter in your home or your office? If you said yes, then my services are for you! Let’s handle it together.

How are you different from other Professional Organizers?

As a stylist, my aesthetic was clean, simple, and beautifully casual. While many organizers have a more “engineering” left-brain approach to organizing, I bring an artist’s eye to making a space beautiful and clutter-free.

What type of people do you work best with, and what is expected of me?

I work with people who are ready to embark on the journey of organization, who want a compassionate non-judgmental professional organizer to help them. You are very aware of your need to declutter and let go, though you may not be ready to completely let go of everything.

For what type of person are your services NOT for?

My services are not for someone who is an extreme hoarder.

My training and expertise fall into the mild, moderate, and chronically disorganized categories. In extreme hoarding, I would recommend the person see a trained therapist as well as working with a professional organizer such as New Leaf Organizing.

My services are not for someone who is suffering from dementia.

My services are not for someone who is living in unsanitary conditions.

My organizing is best suited for individuals who are ready to kick their clutter to the curb. They have been living with either lots or a little clutter.

What exactly what are your services and what do they include?

All my services aim to bring freedom and beauty to my clients lives.

I offer packages that include one-on-one, 1/2 day and full day organization sessions. I also teach classes and workshops loaded with organizing tips that facilitate the process of decluttering and getting organized.

What results can I expect from working with you?

Your important papers will be sifted through, organized and filed so you can retrieve them immediately. Your closets will be arranged by color, or function, in a way that triggers you to recognize and maintain your renewed, organized space.

Your kitchen will be a joy to cook in again, possibly releasing your inner chef out, to come out to play and create.

Imagine a place for your creativity and interests to flourish and your family to thrive.

You will be more productive, and efficient, with increased peace of mind and order in your surroundings.

Shopping is a very different experience for me now. I no longer waste money on filling my home with stuff. If I buy a “want” rather than a “need”, I release enough “haves” to allow plenty of space for the new “want”. I am immensely grateful to Louisa Gravelle, New Leaf Organizing, for her compassionate strength in guiding me to release. – DMJ
